Product Introduction

Grape powder is a nutritious byproduct of the grape industry, offering a range of health benefits and applications in food production. It is derived from either grape pomace or grape seeds, both of which are rich in bioactive compounds.

Production Process

The production of grape powder typically involves drying grape pomace or grape seeds, followed by grinding and sieving to create a fine powder. For grape pomace powder, the process might include drying in a vacuum oven at a controlled temperature, such as 40 °C, and then crushing and sieving the material to achieve the desired particle size[1][3].

Nutrition Facts

Grape powder is high in dietary fiber and antioxidants. For example, grape pomace powder contains about 55.6% dietary fiber and has a high total phenol content (TPC) of approximately 740.8 mg per 100 g[1]. Grape seed powder is also rich in fiber and polyphenols, with a significant amount of fat and protein[5].

Product Components and Benefits

Grape powder is rich in polyphenols, which are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. These compounds can help protect against oxidative stress and may support cardiovascular health[2]. The high fiber content in grape pomace powder can aid digestion and support gut health[3].

Product Applications

Grape powder is used in various applications:

  • Baking: It can be added to baked goods like muffins and bread to enhance nutritional value and antioxidant content[3].
  • Dietary Supplements: Often used as a supplement due to its high antioxidant content.
  • Functional Foods: Incorporated into functional foods to boost nutritional profiles and provide health benefits[2].
